July 7, 2021 Tanabata

I heard the story of Orihime and Hikoboshi many times in different interpretations and always thought it was very romantic - until now. I think it's kinda abusive of a father to control his all-grown-up daughters love life, but of course, that's a modern take on the story that originated hundred years ago. I mean, why would you need all this weaving for - you're already on heavens, congratulate yourself and enjoy this like a hobby... Just kidding - I guess for the whole world to operate smoothly everyone has to do their job and keep up with the deadlines - and it's weird to learn about the importance of time management from such an old story. The moral - do not mix work and relationships - is taken. Personally, I've never had a problem with keeping two separate, but I must admit that I quite often tend to abandon some responsibilities to enjoy myself - and I'm not proud of it.

I've lived in Japan for three years before quarantine, and every year I skipped Tanabata: I didn't want to go, I had work this day, I had no one to go with - so the only time I got to witness the festival taking place was when I walking home from work and saw tents with street food in the park - they were already closing and I bought two sticks of fried baby octopus with a huge discount. This year I'm not even in the country for the celebration, so the only plan I have for tonight is doing homework.

  1. I think as gods and royalty, they must need to set a better example for the common people. That's my take on it. If the heavens stopped moving, the universe would fall apart. So, there is a great duty to keep. Are you not in Japan? that's sad! What time is it there? I hope it's not too late or early.

    1. I agree, but it's very sad that gods do not tale their days off - must be very difficilt to take care of mental health and stuff. I guess being celestial being is giving you an ultimate protection from a burn-out!
My day is running one hour behind Tokyo time, so it's not much of a difference and it's easy to keep up with thw schedule.
