June 30, 2021 And the song of the month is...

Image
All hale the end of June and the middle of summer! One of my favourite songs this month which I re-discovered for myself recently is "Suddenly I See" by KT Tunstall. This song was narrated in an iconic opening scene of "The Devil wears Prada" - a shining beacon of hope and the masterpiece of cinematography filmed back in 2005. Back then I was too young to understand this film OR the lyrics of the song, however now I'm glad to be able to finally appreciate both the film and the meaning of the song in all their beauty. I'm happily recovering my memories of an unforgettably genius acting by Meryl Streep as I'm murmuring the lyrics. "Well her face is a map of the world Is a map of the world You can see she's a beautiful girl She's a beautiful girl And everything around her is a silver pool of light The people who surround her feel the benefit of it It makes you calm She holds you captivated in her palm Suddenly I see (suddenly I see) This is wha...

June 28, 2021 Dear pudding, ..

Image
I write today with an empty stomach and since I'm craving desperately for a snack of any kind of side dish, let's talk about one of the English classics - Yorkshire pudding.  To my surprise, if you search the combination 'Yorkshire pudding' in Google, most pop-up recipes aren't that complicated at all - at least at first glance! I, for one, would never even dare to bake or come near the oven, but perhaps those bold of you who possess the sharper skills in culinary would come across wandering for a simple, nice and fluffy piece of siding which you may serve in various ways: I personally like my pudding served with fresh berries and nice airy cream inside. For a recipe , I humbly suggest that you employ the method from a British chef and restaurateur Jamie Oliver and to ensure that you're doing just alright you may as well watch his short yet informative and light-hearted video tutorial!

June 23, 2021 My favourite website besides YouTube, Twitch and Twitter?

Let's talk about the news, shall we? Do you like to follow what's happening in the world? I personally love following the news, whether it'd be internet drama between YouTubers or political issues in Brunei. As we like to say in my country "Forewarned is forearmed" - so I'm getting my warnings before they will get to me. One of my favourite sites to use is Bloomberg . It's a huge news portal with a wide spectre of columns and topics and various branches: there are Bloomberg US,  Asia, Africa, Middle East and even Bloomberg Japan. I personally have a reduced price student subscription for the European edition, but this doesn't prevent me from switching amongst other editions if I like. I started using this website about a year ago to keep the track of news regarding COVID-19 and prices on the stock market. It's a shame to admit it, but I do not trust news sources in my country. I do believe that statistics about COVID is wronged and unreliable, so I...

June 21, 2021 Solstice

Today's the first day of summer, declared by solstice which occurred this noon (noon for me) - the longest day of the year, they say! Well, it's all nice and Gucci, but I wish that the solstice had at least a couple hours more in a day count, don't you think this would be only fair? Enough people complain about the 24-hour count not being enough, so why not give it a shot at least once a year?.. I honestly don't get the concept of how this might ruin the other days. I personally hate summer. I can't hold hot temperatures very well and stay indoors most of the time because as soon as I step a foot outside I feel like I'm about to faint. I remember my first summer in Japan - humid and unmerciful, I've never been in such a boiling pot! It was a big shock for me mentally and physically and I ended up laying down all day long under AC, praying for the nighttime. Here in Siberia, summers are extremely hot too, but it's not a humid area here, so I wasn't p...

June 16, Post #1

Hello, my name is Ekaterina, I'm a Russian student studying in Japan. I'm majoring in 3d animation and hope to expand my speciality to the 2d animation field as well. I enjoy watching YouTube quite a lot, do live stream drawing sessions and writing. I am currently in my 3rd year at university and have some complications since I took a year-long academic break after finishing my second year due to a pandemic. I'm looking forward to going back to Japan and awaiting my landing permission to arrive soon, but it's been sent to me by marine post and it's been a month, so it's a bummer. So here I am, hanging in the air and writing on Blogger.
