June 30, 2021 And the song of the month is...

All hale the end of June and the middle of summer! One of my favourite songs this month which I re-discovered for myself recently is "Suddenly I See" by KT Tunstall. This song was narrated in an iconic opening scene of "The Devil wears Prada" - a shining beacon of hope and the masterpiece of cinematography filmed back in 2005. Back then I was too young to understand this film OR the lyrics of the song, however now I'm glad to be able to finally appreciate both the film and the meaning of the song in all their beauty. I'm happily recovering my memories of an unforgettably genius acting by Meryl Streep as I'm murmuring the lyrics.

"Well her face is a map of the world
Is a map of the world
You can see she's a beautiful girl
She's a beautiful girl
And everything around her is a silver pool of light
The people who surround her feel the benefit of it
It makes you calm
She holds you captivated in her palm

Suddenly I see (suddenly I see)
This is what I wanna be"

This song has become a big inspiration for me and ever since I stumbled upon it on my Spotify recommendations a month ago I cannot help but start my day by listening to it! It's very 2000s, bright and upbeat - and it charges you with a positive mood for all day!

  2. I watched "The Devil Wears Prada" a long time ago. I didn't fully understand the movie or the song either since I was still so young. But after listening to the song again, it does brighten up the mood. I don't know why I thought it was about a girl trying to cope after a break up.
