June 21, 2021 Solstice
Today's the first day of summer, declared by solstice which occurred this noon (noon for me) - the longest day of the year, they say! Well, it's all nice and Gucci, but I wish that the solstice had at least a couple hours more in a day count, don't you think this would be only fair? Enough people complain about the 24-hour count not being enough, so why not give it a shot at least once a year?.. I honestly don't get the concept of how this might ruin the other days.
I personally hate summer. I can't hold hot temperatures very well and stay indoors most of the time because as soon as I step a foot outside I feel like I'm about to faint. I remember my first summer in Japan - humid and unmerciful, I've never been in such a boiling pot! It was a big shock for me mentally and physically and I ended up laying down all day long under AC, praying for the nighttime. Here in Siberia, summers are extremely hot too, but it's not a humid area here, so I wasn't prepared for an absolute fatality disaster I experienced in Japan. I never held summer well here in Russia as well, so hugging packages of ice and dreaming about winter was my daily routine. That's why on my second summer in Japan, I fled North, to Scandinavia.
By the way, did you know that the sun literally always up on the North Pole in summer?.. I read it today in National Geographics! It's up in the sky all 24 hours, declaring the celebration of life and global warming! What a paradise for workaholics! I also learned that summer temperature there is just on the freezing point - the perfect weather if you ask me! I always dreamt of visiting the North and now that I know all of this I think that summer would be a perfect time to travel up there!
Speaking of travelling, I personally find it the best way to entertain yourself in the summertime. Not only your backpack is much lighter because it only holds light-weight clothes, but you can also explore much more wild areas which are usually dangerous at other times of the year. However, if you'd rather stay at home this season (because of a PANDEMIC) - you can go on a journey of learning about gelato by clicking right here. What's better than thinking of a soft airy dessert and trying to actually recreate it at home?.. It's like bringing a piece of Italy into your kitchen!
Very nice! I wonder what it would be like to have 24 hours a daylight without a break? I think I would go crazy. Yeah the sun does cause the Earth to warm up, nothing we can really do about it.
ReplyDeleteI mean it would really help if the scientists uses their knowledge of nuclear physics to develop a materia to help filling up holes in ozone layer rather than deleloping nuclear weapons that don't help any causes at all...
DeleteSo because the South has ZERO sunlight, the North get ALL the sunlight. Very interesting! Especially since the north poles is as cold as the south even with all the sunlight. Thanks for the fact! PS: I like ice cream VERY MUCH. Thanks for the link!
ReplyDeleteI don't like summer as well haha! Growing up in Indonesia, everyday is a hot day...so pls no more xD
ReplyDeleteI totally get you, I'd rather go living in Alaska!
DeleteI laughed off the sentence of hugging an ice pack.
